Yes, Separate Thanksgivings

Trying to map out a way for Kyle and I to be together this Thanksgiving has been an uphill battle.  We have played out every possible scenario in our heads at least 4 times, and have tried our very best to make one of them work.  There seem to be 2 major issues.  The first being that Kyle's chit still hasn't been officially approved for him to take holiday leave. ...

Separate Thanksgivings?

What a frustrating and emotional couple of days I have had.  When October left the scene and November took its place, I was so happy.  November meant Thanksgiving.  November meant colder weather and fun new Fall outfits.  November meant family time.  But most importantly, November meant Kyle. On November first, Kyle's first comment to me via text message r ...

SLO Bound

As you may recall, Kyle's job recently changed and now we will be able to live with one another in December!  After that amazing fact sank in, it hit me: I've been in Corona almost the entire time!  I've been busy with working for the Pediatrics office and have had the pleasure of making some new friends and spending time with Kyle's family whilst there, but I've ...

13 Days

One of the best things about Kyle re-classing into this Master at Arms job is that the training is so short.  He would only be in San Antonio at Lackland Air Force Base for 9 weeks (2 weeks of waiting for school to start, then 7 weeks of school) and then he'd be stationed somewhere for about three years.  This was so exciting to think about since it meant that we ...

Master at Arms!

So, we have some exciting news!  I know we left you guys hanging with the last post about Kyle making the decision to forfeit his spec ops contract to get a new NAVY job.  Thank you very much for your prayers and wishful thinking.  God definitely provided us with a "get-Kyle-outta-Illinois" escape route today! Yesterday, Kyle walked into the office where you g ...

We’re Going out on a Limb

As soon as I found out that Kyle had pneumonia, I immediately started to worry.  My heart was so burdened by the fact that my best friend in the entire world was so sick (like hospital sick!) and was over 2,000 miles away from me.  I felt helpless and it took all self-restraint I could muster to not blow our money on a flight out to hold his hand.  He made it see ...

Contentment is a Choice

Today has been rough. Today is one of those days that makes you look back on what realistically has been a pretty good week with nothing but disdain and complaint. Today is one of those days where I find myself trying to not think about how liberating it would be to punch someone in the face. Today is one of those days where I need to do several things and all I ...

Kyle Called!

My phone was vibrating violently against the granite counter-top. I re-entered the kitchen area, confused as to why my phone wasn’t ringing but only vibrating. “Oh crap”, was my first thought because I realized that I had silenced my phone while I was playing solitaire on it earlier since it makes this annoying clicking sound whenever I make a move. I forgot to t ...

Second Wedding Anniversary

Kyle hadn't even left for boot camp before the US NAVY started messing with the plans they originally set for us.  Kyle’s ship-out date was changed a few times before it was finalized because he decided to pursue a spec ops career after he had already enlisted as an Aviation Ordinanceman (AO). He was originally set to ship out mid-April for the AO boot camp, and ...
