I Refuse to Hate My Life

I've turned a leaf.  A big, ugly, sloppy, lazy, depressing leaf. Over the past month I have not been my energetic self.  I have had hardly any desire to do anything.  I've stayed in whatever I've slept  in till I HAD to shower.  I have mostly just watched "How I Met Your Mother" (or what I cleverly refer to as "Barney & Friends") and Homeland most of the d ...

Tradesies.

Today, I made a statement that shocked me.  My husband and I were texting each other when I asked him what he was up to. Here's our actual text thread: I couldn't believe that I responded like that.  The thing that surprised me was that I actually meant it.  You see, I have been so stressed out and worried and sad about so many different things in my life l ...

Yes, Separate Thanksgivings

Trying to map out a way for Kyle and I to be together this Thanksgiving has been an uphill battle.  We have played out every possible scenario in our heads at least 4 times, and have tried our very best to make one of them work.  There seem to be 2 major issues.  The first being that Kyle's chit still hasn't been officially approved for him to take holiday leave. ...

Separate Thanksgivings?

What a frustrating and emotional couple of days I have had.  When October left the scene and November took its place, I was so happy.  November meant Thanksgiving.  November meant colder weather and fun new Fall outfits.  November meant family time.  But most importantly, November meant Kyle. On November first, Kyle's first comment to me via text message r ...

13 Days

One of the best things about Kyle re-classing into this Master at Arms job is that the training is so short.  He would only be in San Antonio at Lackland Air Force Base for 9 weeks (2 weeks of waiting for school to start, then 7 weeks of school) and then he'd be stationed somewhere for about three years.  This was so exciting to think about since it meant that we ...

Please, Tell Me Your Opinions About My Life

Most people I encounter are very sweet and supportive when they find out that my husband’s in the NAVY and we’re living separately.  The majority will try their best to relate and more than likely will even throw in some encouraging words.  Sometimes, they’ll even hug me and thank me for my service.  I humbly accept their embrace and honestly feel appreciated ...

Something’s Gotta Give!

So yesterday Kyle woke up in the barracks and went to work even though he had a “virus.”  He messaged me throughout the day again and mentioned how he still felt “like crap” and later that day over the phone he sounded, well, “like crap.”  His voice was raspy and strained, and he sounded stuffy and coughed through a lot of the conversation.  He said he still felt ...

Helpless

Today was my day off and let me tell you, it has been so unproductive.  When I wrote out my list of things to do today, it included many items.  ALL of those items have remained un-checked as of now, but there are some that I can add to the list and then check off (yes, I’m so that girl, don’t judge) - I caught up on “Married to Jonas,” ate lots of junk food incl ...

I’m Hopeless and Awkward and Desperate for Love!

Only fans of the show “Friends” (RIP) will know that the title of this entry is a direct quote from Joey Tribbiani.  I feel like that statement COMPLETELY and thoroughly explains the state of my heart right now.  It’s been exactly five weeks since I kissed the most perfect set of lips goodbye and my heart is so heavily homesick for my husband.  He’s still out ...

Saturday in Chicago

What an emotionally and physically draining day.  When I woke up this morning, I imagined today going quite differently. After getting dressed in one of my new outfits, Kyle’s parents and I went over to the base to pick him up at 6:30.  We brought him some coffee and snacks to eat for breakfast since we all wanted to hop on the train into Chicago right away.   ...
